2^nd WHITE art exhibition held in Mandalay

The 2^nd  Art Exhibition titled WHITE opened at the Mandalay Hill Art Gallery at the bottom of Mandalay Hill in Aungmyaethazan Township yesterday.

At the event, painting and sculpture artists delivered greetings, and Ko Nyi Ngae gave words of thanks on behalf of the members of the WHITE exhibit. The five-day event will run from 19 November to 23 November.

The 2^nd WHITE Art Exhibition is organised by 12 artists who graduated from the State School of Fine Arts in 1999. This year’s exhibit featured 75 works, including watercolours and acrylic paintings created by the artists. –Than Zaw Min (IPRD)

Mandalay expo opened at town hall

The opening ceremony for the Brand New Car Show & Special Discount Expo 2016 was held at the Mandalay Town hall on Friday.

Officials from the main sponsors of the expo cut a ceremonial ribbons to officially open the event.

The exhibition features electronic devices, food, cosmetics, textiles, fancy items for female, China-made mobiles, stationery, kitchen utensils, construction tools, herbal medicines, consumer goods, brick moulding machines, India-made televisions, motorbikes, Nissan, Ford and Hyundai cars and engine oil are being displayed. At the expo, 30 companies are exhibiting their goods at 80 booths.

Tatmadaw flies passengers from Yangon to Coco Island

FOR the convenience of government servants as well as local staff and families of Tatmadawmen who are assigned to Coco Island, the Tatmadaw has been arranging for the transport of passengers and consumer goods and foodstuffs with the use of military aircraft and sea vessels.

On the morning of 15 November, 9 passengers, foodstuffs and consumer goods were sent from the Headquarters of Mingalardon Air Force Base in Yangon to Coco Island by a Myanmar Air Force aircraft. 

Later that day 14 passengers—local people,  government servants, local staff and Tatmadawmen -- and goods were flown from Coco Island to Yangon. — Office of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services

A workshop on development of Agricture in Mandalay Region

A workshop for those who are related to Agriculture sector organized by Education Development Spectrum Organization, sponsored by USAID, was held in the meeting room of Mandalay Region Agriculture Department in Chanmyathaze Township in Mandalay on 8 and 9 November.

Present at the workshop were member of Mandalay Region Government and Regional Minister for Agriculture, Live stock and Irrigation Dr. Soe Than, Heads from Agriculture Departments of Districts and Townships in Mandalay Region,   In-Charges of Agriculture Cooperatives and Model Plantations.

At the event,  Regional Minister Dr. Soe Than gave an opening speech.

Dr. Suresh Babu of the International Food Research Centre talked about the role of regional governments in making policy for development of agricultural sector and implementing measure to develop strategy of agriculture. The head of  Regional Agriculture Department gave a talk on agriculture industries in Mandalay Region. And a member of Education Development Spectrum Organization submitted the finding of crisis in agricultural sector and held discussion on it in groups. Harvesting demonstration on model field in Kayin State

 

 

A paddy plantation demonstration using the Sin Thu Kha pedigree seed -- registered seeds (RS), and certified seeds (CS) -- and harvesting on a model field took place on the five acres of paddy fields owned by farmer U Tar Kalose in Flue Village, Myawady Township, Kayin State on Tuesday.

At the event, the township officer of the Myanmar Agricultural Service said that farmers should use seeds produced from Sin Thu Kha pedigreed paddy seed production fields in order to achieve higher paddy yield.  Pedigreed paddy seeds have been stored in systematic ways to distribute to the farmers so that they can grow pedigreed paddy in real time.

To find out an accurate paddy yield per acre, a paddy on a 0.10 acre field was harvested with the use of winnowing machine.  The paddy yield per acre is 110.81 baskets per wet paddy and 99.73 baskets per dry paddy.
