Educational talk on medicine, malaria given to drug store staff of Oaktwin town

A training course on pharmaceuticals and malaria was given to the staff of all drug stores in Oaktwin by organizers of the malaria project of the Myanmar Medical Association at the Public Hospital of Oaktwin on 27 September.

The training course was opened with a speech made by Dr. Kyi San Htet, the head of the Health Department. Dr. May Chan Oo also gave a talk about malaria in Myanmar, the presence and treatment of multidrug-resistant malaria and the role of the drug sellers.  -- (017)


Myanmar Retailer Association of Mandalay annual meeting and economics talk
held in Mandalay


THE Myanmar Retailer Association (Mandalay Region) organised the annual meeting of the association and an economics talk at the Mandalay National Theatre in Mandalay on 25 September. At the ceremony, the chairperson of the Myanmar Retailer Association Daw Win Win Tint formally made an opening speech, and Mandalay Retailer Association chairperson Daw Khin Hsan Yi spoke words of greeting.
Next, the secretary of the association elaborated on the activities of the association and future plans of the association and read out the 2015-2016 financial report. Then, he responded to queries raised by members of the association.
In the afternoon, U Tin Zan Kyaw gave a talk entitled “New Opportunities in Retailing”. And then, led by U tin Zan Kyaw, the secretary of the Myanmar Retailer Association U Thu Rain Nyein, Daw Wai Thit Lwin, U Zarni Win Htet of Sumsung and U Zaw Lin Shein of Coca Cola held a round table discussion on the topic of successful marketing.—Thiha Ko Ko (Mandalay)




WCS, TSA save the turtles in Myanmar
 

In charge of turtle spices survival Department Daw Kalyar elaborating about turtle conservation in Myanmar and rare turtle spices in Ayeyawady Regionat the Maubin University on 27 September.
Working in conjunction with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) , the Turtle Tortures Suvival Alliance (TSA)  works to implement recovery programs for some highly endangered endemic species in Ayeyawady Region – the Myanmar roof turtle, Myanmar star tortoise and Rakhine forest turtle. –Htinkozaw (WCS) 


Students monks lent their hands with transfering a total of 36 turtles --11 Yellow Tortoise and  Indotestudo elongate,၊ 25 Morenia ocellata-- from the Thandarmyae home for the aged and the Monastic school in Kyaukphyu, Rekhinr State to Panpyoelet monastic school in Kyauktan village of Bago township, Bagon Region on 27 September. –WinKoKo(WCS)





18,000 yaba pills seized in Shan State


In separate incidents on 10 October, a total of 18,000 yaba pills were confiscated in Shan State.
Anti-Drug Squad Unit No. 24, based in Lashio, confiscated 8,000 yaba tablets in Naunghkoi  on 10 October.The team searched a GI Group passenger bus near the Oriental toll gate at the access to Naungkoi and found 2,200 yaba tablets in the handbag of Ma Sone Phaung, 56.  Another 5,800 yaba tablets worth Ks 11.6 million was found in a plastic basket belonging to Ma Wun Mein Kyu, 28.
Similarly, a combined team comprised of members of Anti-Narcotic Task Force Unit No. 30 based on Tachilek found a man, Ahr Phaung, 18, near the Meisai creek in Makarhokham Ward of Tachilek, Shan State (South) on 10 October and searched him. Police seized 10,000 yaba tablets worth Ks15 million.   
Police have filed charges against the suspects under the psychotropic substances law and Anti narcotic drug laws.—Myanmar Police Force
