Backup power system donated to monastery in
Sagaing Region

IN an
effort to develop the rural regions of Sagaing Region, the Office of the
Consulate General of the Republic of the India in Mandalay and the Tata Power
Company donated a backup power system worth of K14 million (US$11,864) to the
Taungpaw Dhammapala Monastery in the Ywama Model Village, Tentse Township,
Sagaing Region, on Saturday, 28 May.
At the
ceremony, the Indian consul general explained the donation of the backup power
system.

Pandhissca of the Taungpaw Dhammapala Monastery offered words of thanks to the
donors.
The backup
power system, which can be kept charged with 10 6-foot by 3-foot solar panels, can
absorb energy from the sun and transport it to eight 200MP batteries.
The system will
provides power for 12 fluorescent
light bulbs, four electric fans, a refrigerator and a small water pump.—Thiha
