1th Upper-Myanmar International Level Cooking Competition held in Mandalay

SPONSORED by the Myanmar Chefs’ Association and World Association of Chefs' Societies (WACS) the opening ceremony of the 1th Upper-Myanmar International Level Cooking Competition, organised by the Myanmar Chefs’ Association Mandalay (MCA Mandalay) was held at the promotion area of the Yatanarbon Super Centre of the Mandalay Yatanar Mall on Monday.  
Present at the event were hoteliers, restaurateurs and guests.  Officials of the Mandalay City Development Committee, the Myanmar Chefs’ Association and the Mandalay Yatanar Mall cut the ribbons to open the competition.
Participants from hotels and foodstuff businesses as well as organisations competed by cooking Myanmar, Chinese, European and Indian cuisines.—Thiha Ko Ko (Mandalay)

Backup power system donated to monastery in Sagaing Region

IN an effort to develop the rural regions of Sagaing Region, the Office of the Consulate General of the Republic of the India in Mandalay and the Tata Power Company donated a backup power system worth of K14 million (US$11,864) to the Taungpaw Dhammapala Monastery in the Ywama Model Village, Tentse Township, Sagaing Region, on Saturday, 28 May.
At the ceremony, the Indian consul general explained the donation of the backup power system.
Sayadaw Bhadarda Pandhissca of the Taungpaw Dhammapala Monastery offered words of thanks to the donors.
The backup power system, which can be kept charged with 10 6-foot by 3-foot solar panels, can absorb energy from the sun and transport it to eight 200MP batteries. 
The system will provides power for 12 fluorescent light bulbs, four electric fans, a refrigerator and a small water pump.—Thiha Ko Ko







Tatmadaw flies rice to Khaunglanphu In Kachin State

 THE Kachin State Government recently donated sacks of rice to local in Khaunglanphu, it has been learned.
People residing in Khaunglanphu, Putao District, Kachin State have been suffering from insufficient supplies of food due to recent heavy rain which has caused landslides and blocked roads in the region.
Provisions and consumer goods were unable to reach residents of the disaster-hit areas in Khaunglanphu.
As of Friday the Tatmadaw have been providing assistance by way of sending sacks of rice, donated by the Kachin State Government. The rice is being delivered from Myitkyina to Putao with the use of Tatmadaw aircraft and from Putao to Metgayza village by vehicles via Khaunglanphu.- Office of the Commander in Chief of Denfence Services
